Chimneys should at least be examined once a year, and they should also be cleaned as needed, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The usage, the type of installation, the fuel type, and the user's burning habits will all affect how frequently the system needs to be cleaned. When soot and creosote buildups approach or exceed 1/4 inch, chimneys should be cleaned, and glazing buildups of 1/8 inch or more need to be removed.

Rod’s Construction

Chimney sweeping services are provided by our devoted and qualified chimney sweepers. From fireplace installation to chimney sweeping, repair, and upkeep, we can do it all.

Depending on the type of deposits, Rod's Constructions uses a variety of removal techniques for chimney deposits. The traditional method of cleaning chimney walls uses brushes and a specialized vacuum to remove soot and creosote deposits. In order to remove stubborn creosote or glaze deposits, mechanical cleaning uses wire brushes, plastic cables, or chains that are turned at a high speed by an electric motor. Mechanical cleaning is frequently substituted for or combined with chemical cleaning, which uses specialized chemicals to loosen or dissolve thick creosote and glaze coatings.

There are numerous advantages to cleaning chimney deposits. It makes certain that the fireplace vents well and helps remove obstructions that allow carbon monoxide gases to enter the house. Additionally, removing deposits stops chimney fires, lessens or completely eliminates chimney aromas, and stops acid deposits from corroding the interior of the chimney.
